Stephanie Lagalo, MSW, LISW, is a consultant and trainer at the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University and its Ohio Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Coordinating Center of Excellence (Ohio SAMI CCOE) and Assertive Community Treatment CCOE initiatives. She provides technical assistance (program consultation, clinical consultation, and training) to service systems and organizations that are implementing evidence-based practices, emerging best practices, and other strategies that improve quality of life and other outcomes for people diagnosed with severe mental illness and substance use disorders.

Ms. Lagalo brings to the Center experience in direct practice, team leadership, clinical supervision, quality assurance, training, and consulting for the implementation and integration of behavioral healthcare innovations. Prior to joining the Center, Ms. Lagalo was a psychiatric social worker at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in Chicago, Illinois, where she provided supervision for team members seeking licensure, conducted clinical assessments, led life-skills groups, and provided outpatient therapy using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, among others.

Prior to this, Ms. Lagalo was supervisor of quality assurance and substance-abuse services at InterAct of Michigan, Inc., in Kalamazoo, where she coordinated the integration of ACT and Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT). She also served as a consultant and trainer to Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the integration of ACT and IDDT.

Ms. Lagalo is an experienced trainer of Motivational Interviewing. She has also conducted numerous trainings about mental-health services, addiction services, and integrated services for co-occurring disorders. She earned a Bachelor and Master of Social Work from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
