The event will be held via livestream and will be recorded for viewing on the Mandel School's YouTube channel.
Current Mandel School students can receive 1 PD hour for each Impact Talk they attend.
Mark Chupp, associate professor and founding director of the Community Innovation Network, will present "Nothing For Us Without Us: Building Authentic Community Relationships for Social Change."
Why is it that so many projects led by popular civic leaders and institutions so often face pushback, objections and protests from the community? Oftentimes, the answer is a lack of authentic community engagement with the people most affected, which leads to a loss of trust in leaders and institutions. This session will explore principles and practices of authentic community engagement with case examples from restorative justice, international peacebuilding, community development and organizational change.
