A Message from the Interim VP for Student Affairs

Welcome to fall semester!

Whether you are a first-year, transfer or returning student, we are excited and grateful that you are part of the CWRU community. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready to engage and thrive this fall. Everyone in the Division of Student Affairs is dedicated to your success and to help make your CWRU experience meaningful.

I’m especially thrilled to be welcoming you all to campus this year as the interim vice president for student affairs. In my previous roles as a faculty member and associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, I always found it uplifting to see our campus buzzing with activity and excitement for the start of a new academic year. This year feels particularly exciting as we transition to our new centralized and simplified structures for student services at CWRU. Support on campus is vital to your success, and we in student affairs can support both your academic and personal success.

One of the most substantive changes for this fall is the creation of the Office of Undergraduate Advising Support, which combines the functions of the former office of Undergraduate Studies and the offices of Student Advancement.  While these two offices are no more, many of the individuals from these offices are still here at CWRU supporting students. As part of these changes, some offices have been renamed and some have moved or will soon move.  Another change is that Counseling Services has relocated to the Dental Research Building, bringing all the offices and staff for health and counseling services together.

We want you to thrive this year. If you or another student is in need of additional support, contact the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@case.edu, or file a CARE Report or a Community Concerns Report. You can contact University Health and Counseling Services for mental health and medical care support. Appointments for in-person or virtual visits can be made through myhealthconnect.case.edu.

We want you to be safe this year. Public Safety uses two mobile apps for safety tools and transportation services on campus: Spartan Safe and Spartan Ride. As you settle back into campus life, please remember to download these two important apps.

We want you involved and engaged, which we know is a key to enhancing your time at CWRU. Keep an eye on CampusGroups for all the opportunities to get involved, connect with campus and have some fun!

As always, we’re planning for lots of connection and community this semester, and I want you to know that everyone in student affairs is here to help you in any way we can. We encourage you to seek us out and find out which programs and services can help you on your successful CWRU journey.

We’re so excited to have you here and to help you have a successful semester!
