Join Know Your Neighbors—a student-run campaign working to build community between Case Western Reserve University students and residents of local Cleveland and East Cleveland neighborhoods—for a special event to kick off the new academic year Saturday, Aug. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. on East Bell Commons.

The Know Your Neighbors Community Palooza will welcome new and returning CWRU students back to campus, while also welcoming local residents and businesses from vibrant local Cleveland and East Cleveland neighborhoods to campus. Join Know Your Neighbors in a movement to build community between CWRU and local communities at this free outdoor gathering.

The event will feature performances by Dhamakapella, MadJax, Kevin Conwell & The Footprints and Case Kismat. Many vendors and organizations will be present too, including Third Space Action Lab, Gateway 105 Market, UCI Popup COVID Vaccine Clinic, Kaimatic Sweets, Urban Kitchen, Center for Civic Engagement and Learning, Partners in Health Engage, and CWRU Ohio Student Association.

The goal of the Know Your Neighbors campaign is to "break the Bubble," recognize the negative effects of past historical outcomes and events, establish positive relationships between students and residents, and cultivate mutual pride.

The event is free to enter, but make sure to bring your own outdoor blanket or folding chairs to enjoy the performances and cash as some community vendors may only take cash.

Register for the event in CampusGroups.
