The #YouAreWelcomeHereCWRU campaign has been an important part of Case Western Reserve University’s culture for more than three years now, showcasing the university’s values of Inclusiveness and Diversity.
The campaign began as part of the national #YouAreWelcomeHere movement among U.S. colleges and universities to send a message to international students that our campuses are welcoming, friendly, diverse and safe.
The Center for International Affairs brought the campaign to CWRU in February 2017 following the Executive Order that suspended immigration to the U.S. from seven countries. The center wanted to reassure those directly impacted by the order and anyone with concerns that CWRU is their home and they are always welcome.
Students, faculty and staff across campus immediately embraced the #YouAreWelcomeHereCWRU campaign and added their voices to its meaningful message by submitting video clips compiled here.
While we can’t physically be together on campus right now, we can all benefit from supporting one another as members of the CWRU community.
We invite all members of our university community to show that support by recording short video messages for a new #YouAreWelcomeHereCWRU video. You can tell us what #YouAreWelcomeHereCWRU means to you, why you value being part of this community, share some words of encouragement and support for our international students, and/or make a #YouAreWelcomeHereCWRU sign and just say the words “You are welcome here CWRU” out loud! You can email your video clips to the Center at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope you will help us keep this important campaign going!
