Supporting Student Writers: Results of the 2015 SAGES Portfolio Report and an Introduction to the Writing Resource Center (WRC)

Date Released: 8 October 2015

Over the past eight years, faculty readers of SAGES writing portfolios have indicated that CWRU students are writing academic essays that meet grammatical and stylistic expectations, but that demonstrate weaknesses in argumentation and critical thinking. In this session, portfolio committee leaders Erika Olbricht and Megan Swihart Jewell will discuss the implications of this year’s portfolio report for classroom and extra-curricular writing instruction. The session will then discuss ways in which SAGES and other campus writers can receive support at the Writing Resource Center (WRC) as well as the additional resources the center makes available to faculty teachers of writing.

Join us for that discussion on Thursday, October 8th, from 12:00-1:00 pm in the Herrick Room, which is on the ground floor of the Allen Building (at the corner of Euclid and Adelbert).

Pizza lunch and sodas will be provided at this session. To help us estimate the amount to order, please let us know if you plan to attend this session by replying to this email or sending a message to ucite@case.edu.
