The Information Security Office (ISO) wants to alert CWRU community members of a scam email that has been received by members of the university community on Friday, February 1.
This phishing attempt purports to be from the [U]Tech Service Desk, and mimics the format of technology request tickets and related messaging used by UTech. It states that a previously submitted request to shut down the recipient's CWRU account will soon be resolved, and gives a link to cancel the request if the action is not desired.
Do Not Respond to this email and Do Not Click the link. Doing so can lead to compromised security, theft and a higher chance of being targeted for similar incidents in the future. ISO has removed the email from CWRU inboxes. If you did see the email and click the link, reset your password immediately. Then contact the [U]Tech Service Desk at email@example.com / 216.368.HELP (4357), or visit help.case.edu.
