UDC Lending Library

Students interested in using the lending library, visit the KSL information desk with your student ID and ask to rent a Chromebook laptop from the lending library. Students can borrow a Chromebook for up to seven days before needing a renewal.

Logging in the first time

  1. At the Chromebook startup screen, click the "Add Person" button in the lower left
  2. Enter your CWRU network ID (ex. abc123) and click "Next". (Note: you can also log in with a personal Gmail account. Just enter your full Gmail address.)
  3. Enter your password
  4. After signing in once, your name and a password field will appear whenever you start up the Chromebook.

Connecting to CaseWireless

  1. EAP method - select PEAP
  2. Server CA certificate - Leave at "Default"
  3. Identity - enter your CWRU network ID (ex. abc123)
  4. Password - enter your CWRU password
  5. Optional, but recommended: to set CaseWireless as your preferred network (over CaseGuest)
    1. Click on the wireless icon in the lower right
    2. Click on "CaseWireless" to see a full list of wireless networks available
    3. Click on "CaseWireless" to see additional options
    4. Flip the switch for "Prefer this network"

Using VDI/MyApps

  1. To get started, make sure you have an internet connection. Any internet connection will work; CaseWireless or VPN is not required.
  2. Open "Workspace" from the app Launcher
  3. Click the "Get Started" button
  4. For account URL, enter "https://myapps.case.edu"
  5. Flip the "Add account type as Web Interface" switch to on
  6. Log in with your CWRU network ID (ex. abc123) and password
  7. Click on "Apps" to open common Windows applications, such as Word and Excel.
  8. If you save your files to This PC\Documents, they will be accessible whenever you use that app with MyApps
  9. Click on "Desktops" to log into a complete virtual Windows computer with common applications, such as Microsoft Office, installed
  10. Click on a desktop to log in
  11. Again, If you save your files to This PC\Documents, they will be accessible whenever you use that Windows Desktop with MyApps
  12. When finished, click on the Windows button in the lower left, then the user icon, and then "Sign out"

    NOTE: you can access https://myapps.case.edu from any computer with a modern browser or from any mobile device, such as an iPad, by installing the “Citrix Workspace” app for that device’s app store.

Accessing Google Drive from VDI/MyApps

  1. Open "Workspace" and go to MyApps (https://myapps.case.edu)
  2. Log in with your CWRU network ID (ex. abc123) and password
  3. Click on "Desktops"
  4. Click on a desktop to open and log into your virtual Windows PC
  5. Double-click on “WebDrive” on the desktop
  6. Click the "New" button
  7. Select "Google Drive" from the list and click "Next"
  8. Enter your CWRU email address (in "abc123@case.edu" form) and click the blue "Next" button within the area for entering your email address
  9. Enter your CWRU network ID (ex. abc123) and password and click "Login"
  10. Click the "Allow" button. (You many need to scroll down.)
  11. Check the "Connect at login/startup" box if you would like Google Drive to be available whenever you log into the virtual Windows computer. Note: checking this box also makes Google Drive available in the streamed Microsoft Office apps.
  12. Click the "Connect Now" button
  13. To open a document from Google Drive within an application, such as Microsoft Word, open the application, either from a virtual Windows PC or as a streamed app from the MyApps portal, select "Open Other Documents", click "Browse", click "This PC" in the address bar at the top of the window, and double-click on "My Google Drive".
  14. Google Shared Drives are accessible in the "Team Drive" folder. Documents shared with you are accessible in the "Shared with me" folder.

    Note: You can follow the same basic procedures as above to map Box. When asked to "Log in to grant access to Box", click the "Use Single Sign On (SSO)" link, enter your CWRU email address, and log in with your CWRU username and password.

Connecting to VPN

  1. Open "FortiClient VPN"
  2. Accept message about free version (first open only)
  3. Click "New VPN"
  4. Enter a VPN Name, such "CWRU VPN"
  5. Select "SSL VPN" for VPN Type
  6. Click "Create"
  7. Select "Server", enter "vpn2.case.edu" and click "OK"
  8. Select "Username", enter your CWRU network ID (ex. abc123) and click "OK"
  9. Click the back arrow in the upper left
  10. Anytime you need VPN:
    1. Open "FortiClient VPN"
    2. Click "Connect"
    3. Enter your CWRU password and click "LOGIN"
    4. Approve the push notification from Duo
    5. You can close the FortiClient VPN window and VPN will stay connected
  11. To disconnect from VPN:
    1. Open the FortiClient VPN software either from the app Launcher or from the VPN notification which you can open by clicking in the lower right of your screen
    2. Click the “Disconnect” button
    3. Close the FortiClient VPN software
