ITS senior project director, PhD candidate presents research at international conference
Jess Shoop, a current PhD candidate in Management: Designing Sustainable Systems and senior project director in Information Technology Services, presented her research on the skills, behaviors and traits that characterize an effective senior leader within information technology organizations at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) this December in Fort Worth, Texas.
“The Critical Competencies of Successful Senior IT Leaders – A Field Study” explores IT executives who report directly to the chief information officer. Conducted with Kalle Lyytinen, chair and professor of design and innovation, and Richard Boyatzis, Distinguished University Professor and the H.R. Horvitz Professor of Family Business, Shoop interviewed 36 IT professionals using a 360-degree approach to distill what competencies define an effective leader.
