Security Defenses Start at Home

US-CERT recently issued an alert (https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/alerts/TA18-074A) about the targeting of vulnerable network routers by the Russian government. Among the targets are internet routers in use by homeowners in the USA. CWRU's Information Security Office recommends faculty and staff with home internet providers review the configurations of their internet-facing routers (commonly provided by their ISPs), to ensure they have taken appropriate steps to mitigate any vulnerabilities.

UTech recommends this US-CERT guide (https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/tips/ST15-002) as a first step to assess home routers.
