GOOGLE SEARCHING WITHIN YOUR SITE:

Case contracts with google for indexing of our websites. This fall we changed the parameters so that google would index case.edu instead of cwru.edu, as google cannot index both versions of the domain under our agreement. This affects users in a few ways. Those with sites on the aurora server (www.case.edu/yoursitename) will need to edit their search box to enable searching within their sites. Those whose sites are housed on outside servers must make sure they are using sitename.case.edu rather than sitename.cwru.edu to continue to be indexed properly.

Information for maintainers of accounts on the aurora server.

If you are maintaining a site on aurora, you must change the code for your search box from

<div class="searchbox">
<div class="boxtitle"><label for="searchform">SEARCH SITE:</label></div>
<div class="dashedseparator"><form action="http://www.google.com/u/cw" method="get" id="searchform" name="searchform"><input type=hidden name="hq" value="inurl:www.cwru.edu/yoursite/" /><input name="q" id="searchtext" type="text" /><input name="sa" id="searchsubmit" type="submit" value="SEARCH" /></form></div></div>

to:

<div class="searchbox">
<div class="boxtitle"><label for="searchform">SEARCH SITE:</label></div>
<div class="dashedseparator"><form action="http://www.google.com/u/cw" method="get" id="searchform" name="searchform"><input type="hidden" name="hq" value="inurl:www.case.edu/yoursite/" /><input name="q" id="searchtext" type="text" /><input name="sa" id="searchsubmit" type="submit" value="SEARCH" /></form></div></div>

This is merely a matter of changing the cwru to case and ensuring that you have quotes around the term hidden. We will soon be updating the templates to accomodate this change.

Information for maintainers of accounts on other servers.

If you are maintaining an account on a different server, you may wish to implement your own search form based on the funtionality of your particular server. Contact your server administrator for details.
