Julie Quinn Burklund enrolled in the inaugural cohort of the Case Western Reserve University Full Stack Coding boot camp in April 2017.

Julie was hoping to further her career and start a new job that combined her interests in real estate and data.

“Throughout the CWRU boot camp, we built on our knowledge as each of the group projects were getting more advanced. By the end of the course I felt very comfortable with the material. I also had a great capstone project that I created as a proof of concept for the company where I was working, at the time, that helped me transition into a new career.”

The highlight of the boot camp for Julie was learning more than she thought she would learn over the course of six months, “I was grateful for my amazing instructor and our teaching assistants, who were all very helpful throughout this learning experience. I also met other women who were interested in technology.”

With her newly acquired skills, Julie was able to switch careers and join a new company.

“As a business systems analyst at GBX Group LLC, I was able to combine my master’s degree in Urban Studies, and my skillsets from the CWRU boot camp to conduct real estate data analysis. After switching careers, I saw an increase in both my salary, and happiness in my career.”
