New Faculty

Welcome New Faculty

Starting in a new position can be daunting, but be assured that Case Western Reserve Univeristy wants you to succeed and intends that you enjoy a long, distinguished, and rewarding career here.

The Office of Faculty Development provides ongoing programming to assist you like Friday Lunch & Learn's on topics like Research Grants: RFP to Final Report, Negotiation, or Difficult Conversations, as well as the year-long program To Tenure & Beyond.  We are also responsive to faculty initiated requests for new or ad hoc programs. The University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education is the source for programs to improve your teaching and mentoring.

While career development for faculty of all ranks is our primary charge, we have additional priorities to support and engage the faculty member as a whole person through community building and partner hiring assistance.

We host large events like the faculty Welcome Picnic and the annual wine tasting, and more intimate ones like faculty Mixers and writing and research groups, to encourage cross department contact, collaboration, and friendship.

A group of faculty and faculty spouse/partners volunteer to welcome, answer questions, and provide information to new members of the CWRU community. Please contact us at if you would like to speak to a Committee Member.

If you have partner/spouse hiring concerns please visit our Partner Assistance webpage for more information.

Please visit our offices in Thwing Center, Hitchcock Hall. We look forward to meeting you!
