Instructor(s)
Carol Salus, PhD
Professor Emerita, Art History, Kent State University
Date
Thursdays, June 20 - August 1 (No class July 4)
Time
10:00AM to 11:30AM ET

The course focuses on key monuments of the three great monotheistic religions. Two sessions each will be devoted to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The role of art in each of these religions reveals much about the communities in which they were created and how they were perceived in their eras. Examination of houses of worship, paintings (including catacombs), and sculpture will be integral to class discussion. Discussion will also include the bonds shared by all three religions as manifested in their artistic creations.
