Simone graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and moved directly to Washington, D.C. to obtain her Masters in Forensic Science (MFS) at The George Washington University. While working towards her MFS, she worked full-time as a laboratory assistant and supervisor at GeneDx, located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. GeneDx specializes in genetic testing for rare hereditary disorders. In 2004 she moved back to her hometown of Cleveland and has been working as the Genomics Core Manager in the Genetics and Genome Science Department at Case Western Reserve University ever since.
