Assistant Professor (tenure-track) - Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2023.  We seek applicants with advanced quantitative skills in demography and/or longitudinal data analysis (e.g., latent trajectory analysis, sequence analysis).  Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to our areas of specialization in age/life course or health/medicine, particularly those with an interest in social inequality.  

Responsibilities of the position include the following:  teach two courses per semester, conduct general and major undergraduate advising, contribute to the doctoral program by teaching substantive seminars and statistics courses, provide mentorship and research supervision for doctoral students.

Applicants must have a PhD in Sociology, Demography, or a related field at the time of appointment.  Preference will be given to candidates with: (1) scholarly promise in a clearly articulated program of research; (2) evidence of effective teaching experience and clear pedagogy; (3) demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
