Full-Time Lecturer - Department of Music

The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a full-time lecturer position starting in Fall 2024. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music education. The normal teaching load is 5 courses/year (2 one semester, 3 one semester). In addition to the teaching responsibilities, there is a departmental service role that includes mentoring instrumental music education students, recruiting for the orchestra and the music education program, and interfacing with local schools through guest clinics, observations, and the like. Appointment is for one year.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at minimum ABD status in a doctoral program in Music Education, a minimum of three years documented successful public school instrumental teaching experience, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Preferred qualifications include a background in string pedagogy, classroom guitar, vernacular pedagogy, college teaching experience, and receipt of doctorate by the date of appointment.
