We are particularly interested in candidates who have expertise in teaching writing in the context of social science, engineering, healthcare and/or scientific disciplines. Lecturers’ responsibilities will include designing and leading first-year Academic Inquiry Seminars and consulting with the campus community via the Writing Resource Center. Responsibilities may also include designing and leading other writing-intensive seminars, creative writing workshops, professional/technical or scientific communication courses, and/or other undergraduate courses. Opportunities for writing program administrative and assessment activities are also available and are compensated.
Minimum Qualifications: An earned PhD or terminal professional degree in a field relevant to the program's mission is required at the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Coursework and/or experience teaching writing at the college level to students from diverse educational backgrounds, including multilingual writers, is preferred. Evidence of creative, scholarly, clinical and/or industry experience in a related field is also welcome.
Responsibilities & Duties: Teaching load is the equivalent of six courses over the academic year (does not include summer), which may include a mix of classroom teaching, Writing Resource Center consulting and programming, and other activities. Initial appointment is for one academic year, beginning August 2025; this position is eligible for annual reappointment.
How to Apply: Application materials should be submitted electronically by January 15, 2025, at http://apply.interfolio.com/159422. For initial consideration, please submit the following materials:

CWRU and the Writing Program value activities that support diversity and inclusion; we invite applicants to describe such activities in their cover letters and other application materials. When candidates are selected for interviews, they will be asked to provide 2 confidential letters of recommendation and to prepare to speak in detail about courses that they might teach at CWRU.
