This post-doc position is focused on establishing linkages between butterfly physiology and species geographical range and phenological attributes. Funding comes from an NSF CAREER grant to Dr. Sarah Diamond.
Case Western Reserve University, Department of Biology is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a postdoctoral fellow position. This is a one-year appointment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The postdoc will be responsible for:
1. collecting thermal tolerance data to fill gaps in an existing physiological trait database,
2. performing literature searches to update body mass data in a global butterfly
trait database
3. aiding in day-to-day running of the lab including attending and presenting in weekly lab meetings and helping to mentor graduate and undergraduate students
4. helping to run the K-5 teacher summer training program.
The post-doc will have opportunities to contribute to PI-led in-progress papers arising from the analyses of these data and lead their own manuscripts based on the physiological trait databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctorate in Biology, Ecology, Evolution or related subfield.
• Minimum 1 year of prior experience in a post-doc position, ideally in the area of physiology of arthropods, though related areas of expertise will be considered.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
