Case Western Reserve University, Department of ECSE is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a postdoctoral fellow position. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewing for an additional year. [Definitions of postdoctoral fellows and scholars.]
The primary position objective is to be primarily responsible for parts of an NSF-funded project, entitled “Maintaining volitional effort during electrical stimulation-assisted stroke rehabilitation”. Research will focus on design, implementation, analysis, validation, and evaluation of assist-as-needed functional electrical stimulation for stroke rehabilitation. This includes Institutional Review Board protocol administration, clinical research experiment design, recruitment of human participants, and data analysis.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Participate in regular meetings with the supervisor and research seminars of the CWRU Dept. of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.
2. Write human study protocols, renewals, and reports for the IRB and funding agencies utilizing the websites of CWRU-affiliated research institutions.
3. Assist the supervisor to train undergraduate and graduate student students in neural engineering, rehabilitation research, and scientific writing.
4. Present at academic meetings and author co-author academic publications
5. Plan and implement new projects / evaluate research results.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctorate in Systems and Controls Engineering
• 5 years of experience with electrical stimulation assisted stroke rehabilitation research
• Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
