POSITION OBJECTIVE

 

A postdoctoral position is available to study the biochemistry of mast cells and evaluate new asthma therapies. The postdoctoral fellows will lead the projects to build cellular and animal studies to elucidate mast cell function in vitro and in vivo. Additional projects that involve cellular proteostasis in cancer will be discussed. 

 

The Department of Biochemistry has a highly interactive environment with state-of-the-art core facilities (mass spectrometry, cytometry, microscopy, biophysics and structural biology). Competitive stipends and benefits packages are available.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience: 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience in the field of Immunology, Pharmacology, cell biology, biochemistry. 

 

Education/Licensing: Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology, Pharmacology, cell biology, biochemistry, or other aspects of life science.

 

 

DESIRED SKILLS

 

Experience with biochemistry of proteins (western blotting, protein purification).

Experience in tissue handling (lysis, histology).

Experience in flow cytometry.

Experience with expression (E. coli, yeast, and mammalian cells) and purification of proteins or nucleic acids.

Experience with mammalian cell culture and imaging

Competent in molecular biology (cloning, and site-directed mutagenesis)

Basic/advanced computer programming (Python, MATLAB, or R)

Proficient in scientific writing
