POSITION DESCRIPTION
The postdoctoral scholar will collaborate with Dr. Michael Benard on several ongoing research projects related to amphibian ecology and conservation. The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral scholar are:
1) Using several existing long-term data sets, conduct analyses and prepare manuscripts about amphibian population dynamics, movement and phenology.
2) Take a leading role in fieldwork and data management for a study of salamander and other amphibian responses to wetland degradation and restoration. The primary fieldwork is unpredictable and takes place between February and early April, depending on the weather.
3) Teach one class per year in the Biology Department, most likely during the fall semester.
The specific class will be determined by the Department Chair based on the Department
teaching needs and the postdoctoral scholar’s area of expertise and career goals.
4) Participate in additional research projects in collaboration with other members of the
laboratory, including projects developed and led by the postdoctoral scholar.
5) Helping to mentor graduate students and undergraduates in the laboratory, providing them with feedback on their research plans, presentations, and manuscripts.

As part of these duties, the postdoctoral scholar should plan to complete two peer-reviewed scientific publications from these projects in the first year, with the postdoctoral scholar as the lead author on at least one of the publications. The postdoctoral scholar will also be involved in the intellectual life of the Biology Department, including attending and participating in weekly lab meetings, the department seminar series, and the Ecology and Evolution discussion group.

QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Biological Sciences or related field

COMPENSATION
Funding for this position has been secured for two years, and stipend will follow the NIH Fellowship and Training Stipend Levels. Information on benefits and resources for prospective postdocs can be found on the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs website.
