POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Human Fusions Institute (HFI) Research Associate for Graphic Design will work on a wide range of projects and media, using various software programs to visualize and develop innovative medical illustrations and graphic designs that meet HFI’s goals. The Research Associate will obtain input from faculty, staff, and students to ensure that designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the HFI appropriately. It is essential that the Research Associate work independently as well as cooperatively with the entire team to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and schedule project implementation based on workload, which may include five or more simultaneous projects. In addition, this position requires the Research Associate to examine existing processes, identify flaws, and create solutions that improve design capabilities. Finally, the Research Associate will update and maintain internal databases for designs, photography, and video.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, illustrations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and outreach materials.
  2. Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
  3. Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content by determining the ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
  4. Manage the design and uploading process for all project materials, based on best practices for using a content management system.
  5. Use trend intelligence and knowledge of historical and current markets when designing and executing specific classifications.
  6. Schedule projects and define budget constraints.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.     Experience: Three or more years of experience in professional graphic design to include medical illustration, graphics, motion graphics, photography, and video.

2.     Education/Licensing: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills.
  2. Three or more years of experience (academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver.
  3. Experience in medical/scientific illustration.
  4. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  5. Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Desire to continue building skill set with education and training.
