Welcome to the Case Chapter of Sigma Xi
The Case Chapter of Sigma Xi actively promotes the promise to foster interactions among science, technology and society. It is a sponsor of Science Cafe Cleveland, publishes American Scientist six times a year, hosts an annual Distinguished Lecture, and provides opportunity for fellowship and interactions with colleagues across all science, mathematics, and engineering disciplines.
Science Cafe Cleveland is a recurring, informal public discussion of current science issues. They are held in an inviting atmosphere of food and drink and usually take place on the second Monday of each month. For more information on Science Cafe Cleveland click here.
American Scientist is an illustrated award-winning bi-monthly magazine publication about science, engineering and technology. It has been published by Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, since 1913. The Case Chapter of Sigma Xi publishes American Scientist six times a year. Sigma Xi is an international honorary research society with 70,000 members worldwide. Sigma Xi members can be found in virtually every branch of academia, government and industry, and are active in a broad range of activities from local science fairs to deciding issues of political importance relating to research. Nearly 200 members have won the Nobel Prize.
The Case Chapter of Sigma Xi hosts an annual Distinguished Lecture. The Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecturers series provides an opportunity for chapters to host visits from outstanding individuals who are at the leading edge of science. Each year thousands of Sigma Xi members, students and the public have an opportunity to hear exceptional talks and to aks questions of experts. **The Officers of the CWRU Chapter of Sigma Xi would like to thank everyone who participated in our recent By-Laws vote. The By-Laws were approved unanimously and can be viewed by clicking on the "CWRU Chapter By-Laws" link above**
**It has been more than three years since we have held Science Cafe Cleveland at Market Garden Brewery (MGB), and we have enjoyed immensely all of the cafes we have held there since than and are grateful for all of their suppor over the years. The remodeling of the Tasting Room at Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC), our previous host of cafes, has been completed and we will be returning to GLBC in May. Come join us as we welcome back GLBC.**
