Barbara R. Snyder guided the university out of an approximately $20 million deficit, oversaw the addition of the Health Education Campus with Cleveland Clinic, led the creation of Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at Temple-Tifereth Israel and surpassed a $1.5 billion fundraising goal through the Forward Thinking capital campaign. She led the university from 2007 to 2020 and was the first woman president of Case Western Reserve.
