About the Program

Innovation has been a hallmark of our program since its founding in 1880, and we encourage you to take advantage of our flexible, personalized program to design the academic plan that works for you. We offer five technical areas under the general umbrella of Civil Engineering:

  • Environmental Engineering
  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Infrastructure Engineering

What to Expect

You'll choose a specific technical area that appeals to your goals after graduation, with the option to add research or a project to your academic plan.

Graduates of our program choose between entering the job market in places such as NASA or private engineering consulting firms, or continuing on to a doctoral program at top universities across the world. Plus, our graduates who choose a career in academia have gone on to serve in faculty positions at some of the nation's most prestigious universities.

The Department of Civil Engineering has the greatest mentors, professors and students, as well as the most interesting research topics. The Case Western Reserve experience paved my way toward a career full of excitement.
