About the Program

At the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, our Master of Social Work (MSW) programs are designed to equip you to lead at the forefront of social change without disrupting your career.

Whether you want to earn your MSW degree full-time, part-time, online, on campus, or on weekends, we offer a modality uniquely designed to match your goals and lifestyle. And all of our program options lead to the same CSWE-accredited Master of Social Work degree, recognized by U.S. News & World Report as #12 in the nation and #1 in Ohio.

What to Expect

You'll shape your studies through one of our transformative pathways designed to align your education with your purpose and passion:

  • Integrative Health and Wellness: Gain exceptional clinical expertise and explore the intersection of mental, physical, and community health. Prepare to support individuals and families through trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions.
  • Community Practice for Social Change: Develop advanced macro practice skills to lead initiatives, shape policy, and strengthen organizations focused on equity, justice, and systemic transformation.
"The experiences of the professors and their backgrounds are so interesting. They bring real-world knowledge and connections to the school. My Assessing and Diagnosing professor was a medical doctor who moved into social work."

Beyond the Classroom

Field education is a signature offering at the Mandel School and an experience many students find to be a highlight of their academic experience. Our students have applied their coursework at more than 1,000 partners in Greater Cleveland and beyond. Our dedicated field support staff will help place you in one of a variety of community-based organizations, where you'll develop the skills you need to enact social change. Plus, online and part-time students may have the ability to utilize their place of employment for their field practicum. Through your experiences in the field, you'll gain critical skills and expand your professional networks while enriching the lives of those you serve.
