I am interested in macromolecular crystallography. I undertake the crystal structure of novel insulin analogs under investigation in diabetes research. My x-ray studies will cohere with complementary ongoing studies of insulin analogs by Dr. Weiss's laboratory using NMR spectroscopy.
An additional focus is study of the crystal structure and function relationship of a DNA-binding motif encoded by the human sex region of Y-chromosome protein. This work has important implications for the molecular basis of human birth defects.
