The first president of Case School of Applied Science, serving from 1886 to 1902, Cady Staley taught civil engineering, political economy and economics during his time in the role. He established the Cady Staley Fund to fuel student loans and funded the Cady Staley Prize, which honored the first-year student with the highest academic marks each year.
Staley was an early supporter of and investor in the Dow Chemical Co.; founded in 1897 by Herbert Henry Dow (CSAS 1888) and led by several Case alumni, the company would position the school as a leader in industry.
