Hessler Street Fair

A tiny section of brick road just off campus played host to an iconic celebration of local music and art for nearly half a century. The Hessler Street Fair, first held in 1969, was initially an effort to prevent Case Western Reserve’s campus expansion into the historic Hessler Court neighborhood.

Hessler Road is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, while Hessler Court is the only street in Cleveland to have wood block pavement.

The fair took place for the last time in 2019, with insurance and permit issues forcing the end of the festival.
