What is your background in the field?
I’ve worked in FinTech, e-commerce, and most recently in the public sector on Medicare and Healthcare.gov. I’ve done front-end and back-end work and now I’m working in DevOps.

What do you enjoy most about your area of coding?
There’s never any end to the challenge of keeping up to date and knowledgeable about all the various technologies we use as developers.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the field?
Take things one day at a time. There’s so much to learn that you’ll easily overwhelm yourself trying to tackle every technology at the same time. Narrow your focus to the current task until you’re competent before moving on to the next thing.

What excites you most about teaching a coding boot camp?
This might be corny, but I’m most excited about teaching. Learning coding was such a long, winding road for me that I really enjoy being able to convey that information to new programmers and helping them understand those concepts that tripped me up as a student.

What are your favorite podcasts, books, blogs, etc. related to coding?
Well, I have Tech JR that I run with my friend Eddie, but other than that I think Darknet Diaries and Syntax.fm are the best resources out there.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
When I’m not coding or teaching, I’m usually spending time with my fiance. But when I’m not doing either, I’m enjoying retro gaming, playing guitar, or reading comics!
