Scientist wearing protective gear examines a vial with loose strands of DNA

The Draz Laboratory for Infection and Technology (InfecTec) provides a vibrant environment for students and researchers at Case Western Reserve University to research infections, infection-associated health conditions and other challenging health problems.

Platform Technologies

Our laboratory is devoted to performing highly innovative and reproducible research for tackling challenging health problems—ultimately to provide simple and creative platform technologies to improve individuals' life and contribute to the progress of society. We focus on disease diagnosis and monitoring—using point-of-care (POC), rapid diagnostics, and mobile and digital health systems; active therapeutics—using gene-based, microbial, and nanoparticle therapeutics, vaccines, and tissue models, printing and engineering.

Infections

We focus on HIV and HIV-co infections, tuberculosis and tuberculosis microbiome, sepsis and antibiotic-resistant infections (including MRSA, CRE and VRE), as well as healthcare associated infections.

Infection-Associated Health Conditions

We focus on infection-associated cancers, infection-associated CNS/brain dysfunction, cardiovascular conditions, and infertility.
