13th Annual Neurosurgery Charity Softball Tournament

The 13th Annual Neurosurgery Charity Softball Tournament was held in New York City on Saturday, June 11, 2016, and the University of Miami came out on top.   Thirty four neurosurgery programs from around the country participated in the event.   The event was a huge success, raising $100,000 for the NREF Neuro-oncology research fellowships.   This is the first year that our Neurosurgery program participated in the tournament.   Dr. Nicholas Bambakidis, a.k.a "Coach" with the assistance of Dr. Selman, a.k.a. "Skipper," lead the team into battle in Central Park on a picture perfect Saturday.  Alia Hdeib, Lois Hengenius, Jennifer Jochum and Jennifer Sweet provided support and encouragement to our players.   Although we didn't make the playoffs, we are "all in" and already preparing to do better next year.  Congratulations is due to  all of our residents who played; Fernando Alonso, Yifei Duan, Christina Huang-Wright, Jonathan Pace, Abhishek Ray, Brian Rothstein, Berje Shammassian, Gabriel, Smith, Mickey Smith and James Wright, and gratitude is due to those who had to stay home and mind the shop, and all those who gave so generously to support the team's trip.
