The Case Western Reserve University chapter of the Federalist Society will welcome Suja Thomas, professor at the University of Illinois law school, to speak about the constitutional issues raised by the increased use of plea bargains in federal prosecutions.
Additionally, Rebecca Lutzko, assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, will provide a response to Thomas' prepared remarks. A question-and-answer session will follow.
The event—titled "95% Plead Guilty: Is Plea Bargaining Constitutional?"—will be held today (Nov. 6) from noon to 1:05 p.m. at the School of Law, Room 157.
Lunch will be served and all members of the CWRU community are welcome.
