ACES + Distinguished lecturer to participate in three panel discussions April 7-8

This year’s ACES + Distinguished lecturer will be Mary Romero, professor of justice studies and social inquiry at Arizona State University. She will participate in three panel discussions April 7-8.

"So You Want to be an Academic?"

Thursday, April 7  11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 248 The panel, which will address different questions surrounding academic careers, will feature:

• Romero;
• Cheryl Toman, associate professor of French and director of the ethnic studies and women’s and gender studies programs;
• Margaretmary Daley, associate professor of German and comparative literature;
• Lihong Shi, assistant professor on anthropology;
• Gabrielle Parkin, lecturer of English; and
• Ananya Dasgupta, assistant professor of history.

• Ayesha Bell Hardaway, assistant professor of law; and
• Camille Warner, assistant professor of nursing.

"Citizenship in a Divided America"

Friday, April 8 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Kelvin Smith Library’s Dampeer Room The panelists will be:

• Romero;
• Joseph White, the Luxenberg Family Professor of Public Policy; and
• Renee Sentilles, associate professor.

ACES +, the Women's and Gender Studies Program, the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, Ethnic Studies Program, the Inamori Center for Ethics and Excellence, the Social Justice Institute, the Center for Policy Studies, the Law School and the sociology department will sponsor the events.
