'Sea nomads' are first known humans genetically adapted to diving National Geographic: Cynthia Beall, Distinguished University Professor and the Sarah Idell Pyle Professor of Anthropology, commented on a recent study that suggests the Bajau, a group of nomadic people living near the water in areas such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, have evolved due to their extreme free-diving lifestyle.
