In a recent article published in Gesta, Elina Gertsman, the Archbishop Paul J. Hallinan Professor in Catholic Studies II and professor of art history, explored zoocephalic protagonists in the Ambrosian Bible.
TItled “Animal Affinities: Monsters and Marvels in the Ambrosian Tanakh,” Gertsman’s article considered material and figurative emphasis in addition to visual conversations. Additionally, Gertsman considers “animal-human hybrids within a larger set of Jewish cultural discourses on the monstrous and the marvelous.”
