The Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable, Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers will present a panel on women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) on Thursday, Feb. 6, from noon 1 p.m. in Thwing Center's Spartan Room.
The panel will have an informal discussion on ways women and minorities can succeed in STEMM fields. The panel is open to all members of the campus community, but the focus is on the dialogue between undergraduate and graduate students and professionals in the field.
Panelists include: LaShanda Korley, the Climo Assistant Professor in the macromolecular science and engineering department; Kathleen Buse, adjunct professor at the Weatherhead School of Management; Rekha Srinivasan, instructor of organic chemistry; Ellen Burts-Cooper, senior managing partner of Improve Consulting and Training Group; and Chris Pulliam, senior biomedical engineering researcher at Great Lakes NeuroTechnologies.
The panelists will provide their insights based on experiences in academics and industry.
Attire is business casual. Lunch will be provided.
The first 25 students to register will receive a copy of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg.
