The campus community is invited to attend a screening of Japanese filmmaker Kenji Mizoguchi's 1954 drama Sansho the Bailiff on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 3:45 p.m. at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Linda Ehrlich, associate professor of Japanese and a noted scholar of Japanese cinema, will lead a post-film discussion.
The film chronicles an aristocratic family living in 11th-century Japan as it is broken up, exiled and sold into slavery. Over many years, the family members struggle to reunite.
Special admission is $10. For members, CIA I.D. holders, and those age 25 and under, admission is $8. No passes, twofers, or radio winners will be accepted.
Please use the Bellflower Road entrance to the CIA parking lot for this showing.
