Diversity and multiculturalism are key tenants of Case Western Reserve University’s International Club. With initiatives and events that center on those themes, the organization celebrates cultures from around the world and shares them with the university community.
The International Club’s main objectives are to serve the community “developing and promoting mutual trust and understanding throughout the student body, providing a space to exchange ideas, cultures, and traditions, and offer assistance to new members in adjusting to their new environment.”
To reach that mission, the International Club works with International Student Services and offers a Mentor-Mentee program for its members and events for the entire community.
The organization’s main event is the International Dinner, which brings together cultural groups from around campus for performances and speakers. This year, the International Dinner will be held Friday, April 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Thwing Center ballroom; it will be the 48th annual iteration of the event.
But the group also engages in other events throughout the year, with this year’s Lunar New Year celebration up next. During the event, which will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center, the International Club will be one of several student groups offering attendees the opportunity to participate in cultural games and activities from various countries.
