Case Amateur Radio Club W8EDU receives DXCC Trident national award

Case Western Reserve University’s Case Amateur Radio Club W8EDU recently became the first collegiate club to receive the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) DXCC Trident Award.

This prestigious amateur radio award recognizes confirmed contacts with amateur radio stations in at least 100 different foreign countries on each operating mode: radiotelegraphy, radiotelephony and digital communications.

“This represents a substantial engineering and operating skill achievement, “ said David Kazdan, faculty advisor and adjunct assistant professor of electrical engineering. “Student operators put in a great deal of time making all three thresholds. The contact that took us to the mark was with station TO4K in Saint Barthelemy, radiotelephone on the 15 meter amateur band.”
