The Cleveland Museum of Art Invites Applications for Docent Class of 2027
The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) is now accepting applications for its Docent Class of 2027, offering an exceptional opportunity for passionate, curious individuals to bring art to life for visitors across Northeast Ohio.
CMA docents are trained volunteers who spark conversation, curiosity, and connection through works of art. Whether leading tours in the galleries or engaging audiences in schools and community spaces, docents serve as vital ambassadors for the museum’s collection and mission. The role blends deep learning with public engagement and storytelling, making it ideal for those who love art and sharing ideas with others.

About Docent Training
Docent training is a rigorous, one-year, in-person program meeting weekly at the museum. Trainees explore art history, the CMA collection, and visitor-centered teaching strategies, preparing them to lead engaging tours for audiences of all ages.
Docents are expected to volunteer during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, both at the museum and at off-site community locations.
