Construction on Cedar–University rapid station to begin; traffic lane switch starts Oct. 4

Construction is beginning on the $18.5 million upgrade to the Cedar–University RTA rapid station. Beginning Oct. 4, traffic patterns near the station will significantly change.

• Cedar Avenue (westbound) will have three lanes maintained, but they will be much narrower;
• Vehicles will no longer be able to use the Cedar Avenue “jughandle” to continue onto Cedar Avenue westbound; instead, a detour will take drivers westbound on Carnegie Avenue to Stokes Boulevard (southbound) back to Cedar Avenue (view a map of the detour);
• Cedar Avenue (eastbound) will be reduced to two lanes from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Ambleside Drive/Murray Hill Road.

Beginning Oct. 8, additional lane closures will occur after 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Traffic will be maintained using flaggers. For more information and updates throughout the process, visit riderta.com/majorprojects/cedaruniversity/.
