Conversation with Colleagues: “Engaging Millennial Learners”

The University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) will offer a new series for faculty and staff to gather with one another, eat and discuss a number of different topics. The first discussion in the Conversation with Colleagues series will have a topic titled “Engaging Millennial Learners.” It will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Herrick Room. About the conversation

A 2011 article by Dalton State College’s Christy Price documented what 100 Millennial learners preferred in assignments, assessments and faculty characteristics. During this conversation, attendees can compare Price’s 2011 findings to faculty and staff perceptions of the CWRU student community. Attendees also will work toward the foal of identifying ways to empower people to learn. Matthew Garrett, UCITE interim director, will facilitate the debut of Conversation with Colleagues. Those who register in advance will receive information from Price’s research findings prior to the meeting. Participants are encouraged to share their own thoughts, experiences and ideas with a goal of moving teaching and learning practices forward on our campus.
