Crafters@Case charity sale

Crafters@Case will host its annual charity sale Dec. 3-4, donating proceeds to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. More than 150 handcrafted hats, scarves, garments, accessories and ceramic pieces for all ages will be for sale, ranging from $3-80.  Cash and check will be accepted as payment. In addition to the sale, the group will donate more than 10 boxes of hats, scarves and blankets to St. Herman’s House/FOCUS Cleveland. Any unsold items also will be donated. The charity sale will take place Monday, Dec. 3, and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Biomedical Research Building lobby.

About the group

Crafters@Case began in March 2013 with five staff members from the School of Medicine. Today, the group has more than 35 members and receives support from the Staff Advisory Council Community Service Committee. Participation in Crafters@Case also is available as a CWRU Wellness Program incentive. The goals of the group are to create handcrafted products for use by the homeless of all ages in Northeast Ohio, and to donate all proceeds of Crafters@Case products to organizations that feed the food insecure. All are welcome to join. Brinn Omabegho, one of the founders of Crafters@Case, notes a recent report by the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless indicated 18 percent of the Cuyahoga County population lives in poverty, and more than 23,000 have experienced homelessness.
