Dexter Voisin reelected to national social work leadership role
Dexter Voisin, dean of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University, has been reelected to a second three-year term as president of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work, a leading organization representing more than 200 deans, directors and chairs of graduate social work programs across the United States and Canada. Founded in 1986, NADD is a membership organization dedicated to promoting excellence in social work education and leadership.
During his first term (2023–2026), Voisin led efforts to expand NADD’s membership, strengthen partnerships with national organizations, and advance a policy agenda addressing licensure disparities tied to the Association of Social Work Boards exam. He also spearheaded a coordinated response to social work program rankings published by U.S. News & World Report.
In his second term, Voisin will focus on elevating the national visibility of social work, advancing state-level policy reforms to address exam disparities, and expanding support for academic leaders across MSW programs.
“Social work plays a critical role in advancing public health and social equity,” said Voisin. “This next phase of leadership is about strengthening our collective voice, shaping policy, and ensuring that the profession is positioned to meet the evolving needs of communities nationwide.”
Voisin is internationally recognized for his scholarship and leadership. He ranks among the top 2% of social science researchers globally, according to Stanford University, and was elected a 2023 Fellow of the Society for Social Work and Research. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and has been honored as a Social Work Pioneer by the National Association of Social Workers.
