In preparation for Intersections and the Celebration of Student Writing and Research, the Writing Resource Center and Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors will host a workshop titled “The Elevator Pitch Workshop: Presenting Your Research to Strangers.” The workshop will take place Wednesday, April 10, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in Sears Library Building, Room 325.

This workshop will assist presenters in:

  • Explaining a complex research project in a cogent and succinct one-minute re-cap (known as "the pitch");
  • Developing strategies for answering questions about one's research;
  • Capturing the attention of the passerby in large open settings;
  • Being inclusive of late arrivals to the presentation; and
  • Sharing speaking roles when the elevator pitch involves a team of students.

Bill Doll, a part-time lecturer of English, and Barbara Burgess-Van Aken, a full-time lecturer of English, will lead the workshop.
