Chirag Kharangate, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Case School of Engineering, recently received a three-year, $525,000 grant from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to study two-phase interfacial turbulence.

The project, “Predicting Two-Phase Interfacial Turbulence Through Advanced Diagnostic Experimentation and Modeling,” runs from May 2026 through April 2029. It aims to integrate physical knowledge with machine learning to develop new understanding of interfacial turbulence damping effect and create new modeling tools.
