The Ohio Department of Higher Education will host a student summit on power-based personal violence prevention Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Columbus.
Case Western Reserve University is able to send undergraduate and graduate students to the conference for free.
The conference, titled "Generation IX: Our Time. Our Power. Our Voices,” gives students the opportunity to talk with others from across Ohio about ending violence on our campuses.
The conference will feature informational sessions and keynotes, action planning, conference materials and take-aways, lunch, and snacks.
Some of the sessions will focus on:
- History and impact of student-led movements;;
- Experiences of students of color and sexual violence
- Inclusive language;
- LGBTQI community and gender-based violence;
- Healthy relationships;
- Title IX and law enforcement;
- Students of faith and sexual violence;
- Empowering students and survivors through activism;
- Advocacy v. activism;
- How to involve men; and
- Social media activism.
