Head over to The Rink at Wade Oval for special events this month

Special events

In honor of Groundhog’s Day, The Rink at Wade Oval will have an open skate with Groundhog’s Day-themed giveaways today (Feb. 2) from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can meet the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Thistle the whistlepig—or groundhog—at noon. The community also can see staff members from University Circle Inc. and PNC Bank compete in a game bubble soccer to benefit Harvest for Hunger tonight from 4 to 6 p.m. Tomorrow (Feb. 3) there will be a learn-to-play-hockey lesson at noon. From Feb. 9 to 11, the community can skate on pink ice during Pink the Rink. During this time, University Circle Inc. will collect food for Harvest for Hunger. A special Valentine’s Day skate will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. Then on President’s Day (Feb. 19), there will be special open skate hours from noon to 7 p.m.

Ongoing events

Throughout the month of February, the rink will have free learn-to-skate lessons on Saturdays at noon in honor of the Winter Olympics. On Thursdays from Feb. 8 to March 1, Recess Cleveland will offer games of bubble soccer from 6 to 8 p.m.
